2020 Outlook: Rodgers’ time with Washington can’t be as bad as his time in Philadelphia. Rodgers played in just eight games during his two years with the Eagles and caught a single pass for seven years. He battled a lot of injuries during his time with the squad and that led to him completely falling off the map.

Inking a two-year deal with Washington was a smart career choice for Rodgers. He once totaled 510 receiving yards in a season and if healthy, he could be a valuable receiving weapon. He’s not much of a blocker, but he’s a younger veteran (28) and still has some time left in his prime. His performance will all depend on how healthy he is, but he has the widest range of possible outcomes among any non-first or second-year player on this Washington team.

Expected Role: Rodgers will challenge for a pass-catching role in the offense. He’s not much of a blocker at all, but as a vertical threat at the position, he should find success.

That said, it’s hard to exactly figure out in what capacity Rodgers would serve. It would likely be as a No. 3 option if his receiving skills are sharp. But he’s well behind Thomas in the veteran roster battle and has some other young talents on his tail as he looks to make the 53-man roster.

Status: There’s no doubt that Rodgers is on the roster bubble. Few, if any, have predicted that he will make the team. He could impress as a pass-catcher but it’s equally possible that he will struggle to stay healthy. For now, he’s on the outside looking in but as you’ll hear a lot, anything is possible in this tight end group.
