Round 4

The Washington football team had an extra pick in Round 4, courtesy of the New Jets from the 2016 draft. With that pick, they chose Oklahoma running back Samaje Perine. He led the team in rushing that season, but his second season was forgettable as several running backs supplanted him on the depth chart. He has spent some time with the Cincinnati Bengals after being released by Washington’s front office last summer.

Nine picks later, Washington added Michigan State free safety Montae Nicholson with their original fourth-round pick. His first year was very respectable and the former Spartan was praised with high expectations. Personal issues and injuries began to derail his career and he was released earlier this offseason.

Perine and Nicholson started with the Washington football team on a positive note, but both players will likely see their once-promising careers come to a close very soon.
