2020 Outlook: Haskins is looking to rebound after what can only be categorized as a disappointing rookie season. The team wanted to give Haskins a year to learn behind the likes of Case Keenum and Colt McCoy, but amid injury issues and struggles for the team as a whole, Haskins had to jump into the lineup. He wasn’t ready for the limelight. He had some serious issues with turnovers and inaccuracy early in his career and didn’t look like a first-round talent.

That said, Haskins improved greatly late in the year and showed immense signs of growth. If he can continue on that path while figuring out how to best utilize his top-heavy and underwhelming supporting cast, he will have a chance to live up to his early-round billing in 2020. There are a lot of variables that could impact him including his receiving talent and blocking on the left side of the offensive line, but he has the arm talent needed to be a quality NFL passer.

Expected Role: Haskins will enter the season as the unquestioned starter. Washington simply doesn’t have any other players on the roster with as much upside as Haskins. And given that the team is trying to build for the future and decide on a direction, they will need to see what they have in him during his second season to determine whether or not he can be a franchise quarterback moving forward.

Status: Roster lock. Haskins may not be proven as a starter, but he was a first-round pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. The team simply isn’t going to move on from him at this point. Should he struggle as a starter in 2020, then the team will have to discuss finding a player who can challenge him as a starter. But for now, the team is best served to see what they have in Haskins to move forward.
