Linebacker (7)

Thomas Davis, Jon Bostic, Cole Holcomb, Reuben Foster, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Shaun Dion Hamilton, Khaleke Hudson

While our orders might be somewhat different, Jacob and I have almost the exact same groups of linebackers making the Redskins final 53-man roster. Thomas Davis, Jon Bostic, and Cole Holcomb constitute the most likely group of starters, and behind them, Reuben Foster, Kevin Pierre-Louis, Shaun Dion Hamilton, Ryan Anderson, and Khaleke Hudson make the most sense, with Foster potentially challenging for a starting role, depending on his health.

The wild card here is Ryan Anderson, who doesn’t quite fit the 4-3 scheme. Ron Rivera and Jack Del Rio have both said they’re excited to find a role for Anderson, so it’s not out of the question that he could find a job as a SAM linebacker who shifts onto the edge in certain situations. But I think that notion may ultimately lose luster. Anderson simply isn’t a great athlete, and he’s more of a 3-4 prototype. I’d seek a trade if I’m the Redskins, and roll with the more natural off-ball linebackers.
