1. RB Derrius Guice

I will be the No. 1 Derrius Guice backer on the face of the earth until I die or he retires, whichever comes first. Simply put, Guice has all the tools to be an elite running back in the NFL. His only issue has been staying healthy.

Guice suffered a torn ACL his rookie season against the Patriots in preseason action and then tore his meniscus in Week 1 of the 2019 season. That sidelined him until Week 11. Then, as a precaution after taking another scary blow to his knees in Week 14, he was diagnosed with an MCL sprain and shut down for the remainder of the year.

In his five games in 2019, Guice managed 245 yards on 42 carries, giving him a 5.8 YPC average and two touchdowns. Many fans will remember the Panthers game where Derrius ran for 129 yards on 10 carries and two scores. That game resulted in Ron Rivera’s firing from Carolina.

Guice made light work of the Panthers defense while giving fans an exciting peek at what the team has in the Louisiana native.

If Guice can stay healthy, he will be the biggest factor — outside of Haskins’ development — for Washington to take a step forward in 2020. He’s had plenty of rest and had his first fully healthy NFL offseason. Look for Guice to get Comeback Player of the Year consideration.
