Re-grading the Washington Redskins 2012 NFL Draft
Round 3
In Round 3, the Redskins chose offensive guard Josh LeRibeus of SMU. He had the prototypical size for an NFL guard and he was quite successful for the Mustangs. After trading down two spots with the Buffalo Bills, the Redskins added extra protection for Griffin.
LeRibeus played sparingly in his rookie season, but head coach Mike Shanahan was looking ahead to an improved 2013 for the massive guard. 2013 never happened after LeRibeus came to the offseason workouts thirty pounds overweight and was inactive the entire season. Can you see where this is going?
After two additional years of very little production, the Redskins cut ties with LeRibeus in 2016 and he is currently a free agent. This pick was absolutely horrible on every level. The Redskins needed to cut ties with him prior to the 2013 season.
