Washington Redskins Unheralded Players: WR Emanuel Hall
By Ian Cummings
How Hall can make the Redskins roster
The Redskins present a tremendous chance for Hall to finally realize his NFL potential. He’s lucky to find himself on Washington’s roster, as behind Terry McLaurin, Steven Sims Jr., and Antonio Gandy-Golden, there are virtually no locks to make the team. One could safely assume that players like Kelvin Harmon and Trey Quinn have advantages over the rest of the pack, but the playing field is about as even as you’ll find it, at this stage.
Hall’s physical traits separate him from almost everyone on the roster at this stage. Darvin Kidsy has the explosive athleticism, but not quite the size. Jester Weah and Jordan Veasy have the size, but not quite the speed. Hall is the complete package as an athlete, but that alone won’t get him a spot on the NFL stage, as he must have learned at this point.
Hall needs to learn from the events that led to his uneventful first NFL season, and he needs to use that learning experience to make a strong first impression for Ron Rivera in the summer. His physical traits should draw interest early, but to maintain that interest and compound it, Hall must show that he’s willing to focus on the little details, and put in the work to refine his game, rather than rely only on his athleticism.
It won’t be easy. But for an Unheralded Player, it never is. That’s what makes the ultimate triumph that much more rewarding.
