There has been some chatter about Ezra Cleveland being a first-round pick. He has been gaining some buzz thanks to his athletic ability and performance at the combine, but I don’t ultimately think that he’ll go in the first round.

At this point in time, the team that seems the most interested in Cleveland is ironically the Cleveland Browns. Cleveland may want Cleveland, but at what point in the draft? Probably not at No. 10 overall, but they could trade down to get him.

Or, they could target him in the second-round like most teams that could be interested in Cleveland may do. That would afford them the opportunity to target a defensive player (Isaiah Simmons) or a receiver (CeeDee Lamb or Jerry Jeudy) with the 10th overall selection.

But, I digress. The reason I bring up the Browns is that they are one of the teams that may have an interest in Trent Williams. In fact, they’ve been tied to him for the better part of the past 10 months since Williams’ holdout began. So, if the Browns are looking to target Cleveland in the second round, it stands to reason that the Redskins could do so as well if they ship Williams to Cleveland for the 41st pick.

Cleveland may need some time to get stronger at the NFL level to avoid being pushed around. His tape at Boise State was only decent despite his elite athletic ability. But if the Redskins believe they can coach him up, he could certainly be an option in the second round. So, he definitely makes the shortlist here.
