player. 59. . Running Back. Miami Dolphins. D'Andre Swift. 26

The Dolphins made a nice buy-low move in free agency when they signed Jordan Howard to a two-year deal. But relying on Howard, who’s on his third team in as many seasons, to shoulder the load in the running game may not be the best decision.

The Dolphins don’t have a lot of depth behind Howard, either. Patrick Laird and former Redskins fourth-round pick Samaje Perine closed out the year as the team’s top backs. So, needless to say, they need an upgrade and somebody who can pair well with Howard.

D’Andre Swift would qualify. I’ve mocked him to the Dolphins in this spot on several occasions, and this is what I said about him in my most recent mock draft.

"D’Andre Swift is the best running back in this class, and he could be the next star to come out of the Georgia program. For the past two seasons, Swift has been Georgia’s lead back and in 2019, he logged 1,434 scrimmage yards and eight touchdowns for the team. He has a career average of 6.6 yards per carry and though he’s 5-foot-8, he tips the scales at 212 pounds, giving him nice power and making it likely that he’ll hold up as a three-down back. Swift’s dual-threat ability as a runner and a receiver could make him similar to Alvin Kamara, another former SEC running back who has found success with the Saints. So long as Swift stays healthy and the Dolphins continue upgrading their offensive line, he should have a chance to help the Dolphins move the ball and take some pressure off Herbert at quarterback."

Of course, in this iteration of the mock, Tagovailoa is the quarterback that needs pressure taken off him. But with Mekhi Becton and D’Andre Swift joining the fold, that would be a solid get for Miami.

It will be interesting to see what Miami ultimately does in the first round. They have a lot of options and if they really want tackle help, they could take one at five or move up to guarantee that they get one of their guys. But no matter what they do, Swift would seemingly be a nice fit here.
