Washington Redskins 2020 NFL Draft all-rookie team

QB – Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Jordan Love
One of the biggest questions facing the all-rookie team is who to leave out at quarterback, as I only intend to keep three. There are four quarterbacks often viewed as ahead of the rest in the 2020 NFL Draft: Joe Burrow, Tua Tagovailoa, Justin Herbert, and Jordan Love.
The first two choices are easy; Burrow is coming off a historic collegiate season, in which his toughness, pocket awareness, and off-script ability helped him become one of the most electric playmakers on the gridiron. Tagovailoa, meanwhile, no longer has lingering medical red flags, and has the athleticism and accuracy to warrant a chance as a franchise signal caller.
That leaves Love and Herbert as the final candidates for the third spot on the all-rookie team. I like both of these quarterbacks, and believe either one could become the top quarterback in the 2020 class. But I’m inclined to lean toward Love just a bit in a head-to-head battle, in spite of Herbert’s more poignant reputation.
Love and Herbert are both volatile, in terms of projection, but I like Love’s combination of athleticism and arm talent a bit better; Love shows the propensity to throw from different angles and add touch to his passes situationally, while Herbert is a little too much of a one-speed thrower (and that speed is very fast). I also like the way Love talked about his inconsistencies on the college stage at the NFL Combine, and his leadership is also a bit easier to project. Herbert is still a good prospect, but Love gets the nod for those reasons.
