123. . Edge Rusher. Dallas Cowboys. K'Lavon Chaisson. 17. player

The Cowboys retained two key pieces on offense this season when they franchised Dak Prescott and re-signed Amari Cooper to a nine-figure deal. But it was a different story on the defensive side of the ball.

On defense, the Cowboys saw Byron Jones head to the Miami Dolphins on a deal that will pay him roughly $17 million per year. Meanwhile, Robert Quinn inked a big deal with the Bears, so that will leave two pretty big holes on the defensive side of the ball.

With no corners looking like a sure-fire option at this point, the Cowboys will opt to take an edge rusher. K’Lavon Chaisson is one of the best players on the board anyway and his athletic potential should intrigue Dallas.

More from Riggo's Rag

Chaisson had a productive season for LSU as a key member of their defense. He racked up 60 tackles and 6.5 sacks for the squad and his athletic ability off the edge gives him even more upside at the next level.

Chaisson carries 254 pounds on his 6-foot-3 frame and has nice length and athleticism. He didn’t do anything at the combine — that could’ve gotten him a lot more buzz had he worked out and done well then — but it’s known that he has good speed, bend, and length. NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein compared him to Aldon Smith, who recently signed with the Cowboys, so perhaps if the Cowboys see things similarly, they will target Chaisson.

Either way, Chaisson is one of the best players available and fills a need for the Cowboys. Perhaps they’d trade down if they’re not sold on Chaisson to target a cornerback they like or a potential replacement for Travis Frederick like Cesar Ruiz.
