The Jaguars have a dire need for help in the secondary. Their top two corners from last season, Jalen Ramsey and AJ Bouye, have both been traded. And currently, the players atop their depth chart are Rashaan Melvin and DJ Hayden.

While Melvin can be a solid outside corner, he has had trouble staying healthy in recent seasons (11 games missed in the past three seasons). Meanwhile, Hayden has been good in the slot as a pass rusher, but he’s not much of an outside option.

So right now, Melvin and Tre Herndon are set to be the outside starters. But the Jaguars could grab a massive upgrade with C.J. Henderson here, and he could either overtake Herndon and give the youngster more time to develop or he could challenge Melvin for a starting spot.

Henderson has been a hot prospect of late and according to WalterFootball.com’s Charlie Campbell, it’s possible that he could go in the top 10. Henderson helped himself out by blazing a 4.39-second 40-yard dash at the NFL Combine. He also looked great during his final season at Florida and though he didn’t grab any picks, he covered well and used his athletic ability and 6-foot-1 frame to stay with the SEC’s best receivers.

If Henderson doesn’t come off the board here, Javon Kinlaw will get consideration with the pick. So too will the three top remaining tackles, Mekhi Becton, Andrew Thomas, and Jedrick Wills. But for now, Henderson makes the most sense as he’d give the Jaguars the true No. 1 corner that they desperately need.
