. Offensive Tackle. Jacksonville Jaguars. Mekhi Becton. 9. player. 52

Jacob: The Jaguars desperately need to upgrade their offensive line if they want any chance of Gardner Minshew finding success in 2020. Cam Robinson was a sieve at left tackle last season allowing eight sacks while committing a whopping 11 penalties. It may be time to try him at a new position or relegate him to the swing tackle position.

Luckily for the Jaguars, the 2020 NFL Draft class is loaded at the tackle position. It’s possible that seven could go in the first round and at minimum, it seems like five will come off the board in the first 32 picks.

The Jaguars are faced with the opportunity to select one of the three top-15 talents in this tackle class in Mekhi Becton, Andrew Thomas, and Jedrick Wills. Of that group, Becton has the most upside, so he’s the pick for the Jaguars.

Becton is a behemoth at 6-foot-7, 364 pounds but his movement skills and athleticism considering his frame are off the charts. He clocked a 5.1 in the 40-yard dash despite his monstrous size and frequently at Louisville, he was able to bulldoze his way through his ACC opponents.

For the next level, Becton has Trent Brown type potential. If he develops, he will be able to handle any pass rusher at the next level thanks to his combination of strength, size, and rare athletic ability. He would be an upgrade over Robinson for sure and while it may take him a year or two to hone his technique to succeed at the NFL level, but he has star-level potential at tackle.
