How Mekhi Becton fits the Redskins

So far this offseason, we’ve done in-depth scouting reports on three 2020 NFL Draft offensive tackle prospects: Jedrick Wills, Tristan Wirfs, and now Mekhi Becton. Of those three, Becton is perhaps the best positional fit for the Redskins, as he played primarily at left tackle in college.

With Becton, the Redskins would face no positional translatability problems, as Becton has much more experience at the position he’d be slated to play in the NFL. He’s also fairly sound technically, so there will be no bad habits to compound with early action.

Schematically, Becton’s amalgamation of athleticism, power, and length also gives him relative transcendence in that regard. Whether it’s power run, zone run, or more diverse concepts, Becton has the physical makeup to hold strong, and as a pass blocker, he’s a fairly universal prospect as well.
