Post-free agency full NFL two-round mock: Redskins trade down
By Ian Cummings
Yes, I know; picking a first-round receiver who has a reputation for drops isn’t exactly something the Eagles would seem keen on doing. But falling into the mental trap of equating two different prospects because of one flaw is one way to miss out on a talented player — in this case, TCU wide receiver Jalen Reagor.
Reagor does experience drops on tape, but he was often dealing with bad quarterback play at TCU. This isn’t to disregard the drops, but to instead understand Reagor’s situation, and also understand the distinction between fixable issues and non-fixable issues.
Drops are fixable, but athletic profiles can’t be heavily modified. Reagor brings the goods there more than almost any receiver, with blazing speed upwards of the 4.4 range, and a 42-inch vertical on record. Reagor is an incredibly explosive prospect both laterally and vertically, and his ceiling is worth it for the Eagles to take a chance on a somewhat familiar risk profile.
