Post-free agency full NFL two-round mock: Redskins trade down
By Ian Cummings
The Jacksonville Jaguars added to their defensive line earlier in this mock when they selected Derrick Brown with the No. 9 overall pick. Brown is a valuable presence on the interior, but the team still needs an edge rusher to replace Yannick Ngakoue.
At No. 20, the viability of available edge rushers is somewhat subjective. A.J. Epenesa is the most recognizable name, but he’s not a pure edge prospect. The same can be said for Zack Baun, who profiles better as an off-ball linebacker at the next level. This far back, the Jaguars will have to take a bet on a projection, and with the board laid out the way it is, there’s no better bet to make than Yetur Gross-Matos.
Gross-Matos is an excellent athlete for his 6-foot-5, 266-pound frame, with the craftiness to use his athleticism to his advantage in the trenches. He also has 35-inch levers to employ against offensive linemen, and while he’s relatively raw in terms of putting together pass rushing combos, he has a ton of potential, and brings a high floor in run defense.
