A blueprint for the Redskins 2020 NFL Draft: Part II
Rounds 6 and 7
The Redskins lack a sixth-round selection, but any trade could add more picks in the latter rounds. They also have two seventh-round choices, so listing several players here seems appropriate.
Offensive linemen to consider in late in the draft include Cole Van Lanen (Wisconsin), Trey Adams (Washington), and Alex Taylor (South Carolina State). Adams comes with major injury concerns, but his upside is tremendous. Keep an eye on Taylor.
Adding a developmental quarterback should be an annual exercise for most franchises, but the Redskins should continue this practice in 2020. Signal callers who could make sense here include Bryce Perkins (Virginia), Steven Montez (Colorado), and Brian Lewerke (Michigan State).
Adding a running back and/or wide receiver on Day Three may or may not happen, but there are some options. Antonio Gibson (Memphis), A.J. Dillon (Boston College), and Patrick Taylor (Memphis) are possibilities at running back. Receivers Antonio Gandy-Golden (Liberty) and James Proche (SMU) are prospects to watch. Tight end Mitchell Wilcox (South Florida) is another prospect at a position of need and he could receive a call before the conclusion of the draft.
Linebacker Cameron Brown (Penn State) and safety K’Von Wallace (Clemson) could be lower round additions. Interior defensive lineman Naquan Jones (Michigan State) could be added for depth purposes or practice squad assignments.
Free agency continues with a slew of new players and the draft will be here before you know it. Who will the Redskins draft in late April? The new regime makes it all unpredictable for now. Perhaps we will have better ideas just prior to the draft. As stated at the conclusion of Part I, “The Riggo’s Rag team will be here to cover it all for you”.
