1. TE Donald Parham, Dallas Renegades

There’s an obvious choice for the top player that the Redskins should target after the conclusion of the XFL season. And that’s Cam Phillips.

But Parham proved to be a dynamic weapon for the Dallas Renegades. The 6-foot-8 Stetson product used every bit of his frame to become the top receiving option in a ground-heavy Dallas offense and established himself as a security blanket and playmaker for the Renegades.

Parham managed 24 catches for 307 yards and four touchdowns while playing five games for Dallas. He worked well in the short-to-intermediate range and showed off solid ability after the catch, averaging 12.8 yards per reception. In reality, having him out there was more like having a massive receiver, but one who was also capable of playing the tight end position.

What Parham lacked coming out of Stetson was tape that proved he could succeed against top-level college opponents. That was the only real knock on him coming out of a Division II school. But now, he has shown the ability to succeed at the XFL level and with more time against higher-level competition, it seems that he has improved. Will that translate to success at the NFL level? Maybe not. But it’s a good first step for him after failing to find a home last season.

Some thought that Parham should’ve stayed on the Redskins practice squad last season. And it turns out, they were likely right. The 22-year-old will surely be one of the most sought after XFL free agents and hopefully, the Redskins will be able to convince him to come back and join their relatively bare tight end room.

It may be tough to do that after they parted with him early last season but never say never. If he’s looking for an opportunity to earn playing time, few teams would offer a clearer path to that than Washington.
