I know, Chase Young didn’t do any drills or athletic testing at the combine. But still, he established himself as a player that the Redskins need to target during the draft.

The truth of the matter is that Young didn’t need to do athletic tests at the combine. He is already a lock to be a top-three pick barring something unforeseen occurring in the lead up to the draft. And he is certainly a player that is on Washington’s radar and should be considered the favorite if they keep the No. 2 overall pick.

Outside of his insane talent and production at Ohio State — 16.5 sacks last season despite facing constant double and triple teams — Young seems to want to be a Redskin. In an interview with ESPN’s Josina Anderson, he said that the Redskins were his favorite combine meeting.

"Probably the Redskins. I’d say the Redskins. You know, I met the owner, Mr. Snyder. It was definitely the Redskins."

That’s certainly a good sign for Washington. And the fact that Dan Snyder was involved in interviews lets everyone know just how important Young is to the Redskins. Owners typically don’t sit in on meetings unless it’s for a notable prospect. The fact that Snyder was there means that they are strongly considering adding Young to the fold this offseason. And if he interviewed well with the team, which seems likely, he probably further established himself as the frontrunner for the No. 2 pick.

We’ll soon see what happens with Young and will know more about the ‘Skins plans as draft rumors continue to swirl about the league.
