Three defensive linemen for the Redskins to watch at the 2020 NFL Combine
Bradley Anae posted 13.5 sacks with Utah last season. They two years before, he posted 7.5 and 7.0 sacks respectively. He is a highly productive edge rusher and it looks like he will find a role at the NFL level because of that.
Anae was one of our standouts at the Senior Bowl. And as our own Ian Cummings detailed, Anae “wreaked havoc” during the game and established himself as a strong prospect.
"Bradlee Anae of Utah headlined the group, wreaking havoc on opposing quarterbacks with his impressive combination of athleticism in the trenches, hand placement, and unending motor. He had multiple sacks on the day, and was a big reason why the South offense stalled out early. Anae is a stockier edge rusher at around 6-foot-3, 267, but he has the combination of solid athletic ability and fundamental prowess to ensure a measured degree of success at the next level. Some have labeled him a Top 50 prospect, so he might not be in the Redskins range. But if they do pass on Chase Young, Anae is a player worth watching."
Of course, the likelihood of the team passing on Young has decreased since the Senior Bowl. They still could trade down. And the team has been tied to a quarterback recently, but that feels like a smokescreen.
Nonetheless, Anae should be a player to watch. If the Redskins do, for whatever reason, pass on Young and Anae is there in the third round, he could make sense as a rotational speed rusher who could offer the squad a different look coming off the edge.
Anae’s 40-time will be worth watching and if he runs fast and shows an explosive 10-yard split, he will likely rise. Again, he’s not a prospect that the ‘Skins are likely to land, but it’s worth keeping an eye on him anyway since he has potential.
