Denzel Mims feels like one of the more underrated receivers in this deep class. The Baylor product has been highly productive over the course of his three seasons as a starter and was one of the biggest reasons that the Baylor offense found success last year.

Mims totaled 66 catches for 1,020 yards and 12 touchdowns for the Bears in 2019. He has a good frame at 6-foot-3, 207 pounds and has the length needed to make a lot of catches at the NFL level. If you can get it near the Baylor product, odds are that he will at least get his hands on it, if not, catch it outright.

Mims tracks the ball so well in the air and that affords him the opportunity to make contested catches. In fact, he caught a number of passes last year for Baylor after they were tipped by defenders, and in doing so, he showed off his ability to adjust to the ball. Mims is also good at high-pointing the ball thanks to his reach and instincts, so that’s a positive for him as well.

At the combine, the key for Mims will be showcasing his speed and showcasing physicality. He doesn’t have the best downfield speed but if he runs a bit quicker than what he shows on tape, perhaps he will be able to improve his deep-threat ability and gain more than a half-step to step of separation at the NFL level.

As for his physicality, Mims is a bit lean for his frame and should add a bit of muscle. That will help him win against more physical players downfield, especially when fighting for jump-balls. He has all the skills needed to be a great contested catch receiver, but added physicality could make him unstoppable on that front.

Mims could offer the Redskins a different look and while he’s similarly sized to Harmon, he could prove to be a bit quicker than him. And if he can get more physical, both could become red-zone weapons for the team and make it very hard for opposing defenses to guard them. He would continue to add youth and upside to the ‘Skins receiving corps.

Overall, it will be interesting to see which receivers pique the Redskins interest. But these three receivers may be available in the middle rounds of the draft, so they’re the top ones to watch as the NFL Combine drills kick off on Thursday.
