1. A.J. Green

The Redskins want veteran talent opposite of McLaurin. The Redskins want solidified veteran receiver talent in their wide receiver room this season. Look no further than a guy who needs a fresh start, a guy who has been among the NFL’s elite wide receivers since entering the NFL back in 2011. It’s Adriel Jeremiah Green.

A.J. Green is slated to be a free agent this summer, at age 31. I know among NFL fans and NFL media that once a player hits 30, it’s just about time to put them in a nursing home. Green has had a bit of injury trouble these past couples of seasons, but nonetheless is exactly what the doctor ordered for this Redskins team.

Green can provide leadership for a Redskins organization (and young wide receiver group) that we all know desperately needs it. Does this Redskins team need big plays? Look no further. Does this offense need consistency from the Receiver group? Look no further. This team needs touchdowns? Big play impact? True game-changers? Look no further. There’s no better option for your young quarterback than Green.

Green has been at the top of his position for quite some time now, posting six 1,000+ receiving yard seasons, over 60 receiving touchdowns, nearly 15 yards per touch average, and seven Pro Bowl appearances. In short, A.J. Green has had one hell of a career.

Coming off of two injuries filled seasons and nine years with a Cincinnati Bengals team that doesn’t even know if they’re drafting Joe Burrow. It’s about time for him to leave.

The reason why I would say come to Washington is that after reading and listening to the numerous Ron Rivera statements, this program doesn’t have time for a lengthy rebuild. They don’t want that, the Redskins are looking to win, and win rather quickly. Cue Green’s music.

While the Redskins could go back to being dysfunctional, I think those days are pretty much out the window. Green could come into a program that is looking to make a lot of moves and get better rather quickly. With a young, cannon-armed thrower in Haskins under center, a future perennial Pro Bowler at receiver in McLaurin across from him, a running back duo of Adrian Peterson and Derrius Guice in the backfield, and a young offensive coordinator in Scott Turner on the mic, this couldn’t be a much fresher start for the Georgia alum.

Green will be coming to a Redskins program that has recently hired one of the most prominent and well-respected trainers in the NFL, Ryan Vermillion. As an older player, health is becoming more and more important, and he can get ahead of the curve as it pertains to taking care of all of his injuries, and injuries in the past.

He also has plenty in the tank. In the two seasons prior to his injury, Green posted a 1,000-yard receiving season and then the following year after missing seven games posted a near 700-yard receiving season. Availability has been Green’s biggest problem recently, as long as he can stay healthy, he would be the perfect fit for this Redskins offense and this Redskins team.
