Score Prediction

The Redskins didn’t even compete last time they played the Giants, but I like them to take the “W” here. The Redskins and Giants have both changed quite a bit since that matchup. Neither team is ready to win consistently yet, but Haskins has grown for the Redskins, and with Jay Gruden gone and Kevin O’Connell calling the offense, there’s less confusion. The Giants are almost at the same stage with Shurmur that the Redskins were at with Gruden in Week 4, and that kind of chatter doesn’t help a team’s focus.

That said, while the Redskins should be able to take this one at home, it will likely be close. Eli Manning helped the Giants compete when he played this year, and Daniel Jones is similarly competent, if nothing else at this stage of his career. This will be the game that either closes the gap between Haskins and Jones, or the one that cements it for 2019.

Before the season, I saw the Redskins as more talented than the Giants, and while several players have emerged in New York to challenge that notion, I still think Washington has the edge in a roster comparison. Bill Callahan isn’t a long-term coaching candidate, but the Redskins have managed to win against comparable to inferior opponents under Callahan’s oversight. At home, against the Giants, they should be able to do the same.
