Redskins vs. Packers: Keys to victory in Week 14 of the 2019 season
By Kyle Hundley
5. Redskins must get out to a fast start to put the pressure on Green Bay
While each year is different, one of the biggest reasons why Washington was able to beat Green Bay last year was because they got out to a fast start. They scored on the fourth play of the game and quickly moved to a 14-0 lead. They scored right before halftime to make it 28-10, and the Packers were never able to recover.
While last week against Carolina was their best game this season, it was not a complete game by any stretch as the Redskins found themselves down 14-0 about ten minutes into the game, before recovering nicely. They cannot come out flat two weeks in a row and find themselves down multiple scores while still in the first quarter. Holes like that are too big to dig out of on a routine basis, especially against a quality opponent.
Washington has not played a complete game yet this season. They must put their foot on the gas and come out fast this week. Get ahead early and put the pressure on Rodgers, and don’t let him do the same. If they can get a couple of scores early and take some of the pressure off Haskins, there’s a good chance the Redskins can beat the Packers two years in a row. If they come out flat again, they will likely drop to 3-10 on the season.
