3. Nate Orchard makes two more splash plays in limited playing time

Last week, the Redskins saw their edge rush group thinned out by injuries and an in-game ejection of Ryan Anderson. But despite this fact, the team was still able to heavily pressure Kyle Allen and the Panthers.

Chris Odom and Nate Orchard were able to step up despite being signed off the street prior to the game. And in particular, Orchard was impressive.

As I outlined in a recent article, Orchard had a few splash plays, including a sack, a key tackle for loss, and the game-winning fumble recovery against the Panthers.

More from Riggo's Rag

"Orchard, a 2015 second-round pick by the Cleveland Browns, was able to notch a sack during the game but also had a key goal-line tackle for loss on the Panthers’ final drive of the game. He prevented Christian McCaffrey from getting into the end zone and that did a lot to help seal the win. Overall, the 27-year-old showed well and definitely showcased the upside as a role playing edge rusher moving forward."

With Anderson, Ryan Kerrigan, and Montez Sweat likely to play on Sunday, Orchard may not get as many snaps. But he should still have a chance to make a couple of splash plays. If he can notch another key tackle for loss, a sack, or a big special teams tackle, he’ll do a lot to solidify his standing with the team and possibly earn the fourth edge rush role moving forward.

For the sake of this article, we’ll predict another sack and a tackle for loss for Orchard. It will be interesting to see what the former second-round pick can do with more time to prepare ahead of the Redskins-Packers game.
