5. The Reality Is, Bill Callahan has shown some things, but he’s not a legitimate NFL head coach.

Two wins, two weeks of massive clock management gaffes by Bill Callahan. Two wins with two weeks of Kevin O’Connell clearly having more influence on the play calling. Callahan has the team improving with more structure and intentional preparation, but his dismissal of analytics and his adherence to antiquated offensive philosophies make it highly unlikely he could have any prolonged success as a head coach in the NFL. However, his orderly and structured approach, as well as his emphasis on the details, are certainly characteristics the Redskins should be looking for in their next coach.

My Prediction: Callahan does enough to get consideration for the permanent head coaching job if Allen stays as team president, but not if Dan Snyder makes the necessary top-down changes the franchise really needs.

Bonus Prediction: Redskins keep the game closer than expected this week, but ultimately fall short as a result of some combination of: Callahan making a clock management gaffe, Jeremy Sprinkle dropping a key pass, and Josh Norman coming in as an injury substitute and getting beat by an unknown depth receiver for a long TD. Final score: Redskins 20, Packers 26.

Can’t wait to see what happens this week. It could be epic, win or lose. #HTTR
