3. Redskins must limit Christian McCaffery

Christian McCaffery is good. He is just 23 and was already given a 99 in Madden (if that matters to anyone), becoming the youngest player to do so.

That 99 is warranted as McCaffery has been unstoppable this year. He has 1,123 rushing yards on the season (best in the league) to with 586 receiving yards on 86 receptions. McCaffery also has 16 total touchdowns to go with his 1,700 all-purpose yards. The Panthers’ offense goes as he does.

The Redskins’ run defense allowed 175 yards to the Lions last week. They must do better, but this will not be easy as Washington is battling injuries.

More from Commanders News

The ‘Skins are going to be without standout Ryan Kerrigan for the first time ever and possibly Daron Payne for a second-straight game. Ryan Anderson must step up in his place along with Montez Sweat and do an excellent job of setting the edge and pushing McCaffery back inside.

In what was an early must-win game last season, the Redskins’ defense did their part and bottled up the talented McCaffery as he had just 20 yards rushing on the day. If they can have an encore performance similar to last years and contain the league’s leading rusher, that will go a long way toward shutting down the Carolina offense.
