Bonus Stud: LB Cole Holcomb

Usually, we have an even number of studs and duds, but this week, there were more studs than duds. And Cole Holcomb certainly qualified as the former.

In the first half of the game against the Lions, the Redskins were able to hold their opponents to just three points. Their defense played very well and did exactly what they needed to slow down the Lions — slow down the run game and limit Jeff Driskel‘s scrambling ability. And Holcomb played a part in that.

Holcomb racked up 10 tackles by halftime and had a sack as well. He was all over the field and his excellent athletic traits were certainly on display. He looked like a true sideline-to-sideline playmaker, and when given a chance to get after the passer, he really did well.

In short, Holcomb looked like a true three-down linebacker and playmaker in this contest. He has been a starter for the whole year, but he did a lot to lock up that position as the offseason draws nearer thanks to his gradual improvement and overall effort in this contest.
