Stud: K Dustin Hopkins

Kickers don’t always deserve a ton of praise, but Dustin Hopkins does for his efforts on Sunday.

The Redskins once again had trouble scoring on the offensive side of the ball. They couldn’t find any success in or near the red zone, so they had to settle for a lot of field goals. But that ended up being just fine, as Dustin Hopkins had a great performance.

On the day, Hopkins kicked four field goals and an extra point. He made every single kick. None were too long (a 42-yarder was the longest) but the fact of the matter is that Hopkins made every kick. And that’s something that hasn’t been a gimme for NFL kickers this year.

The most impressive kick of Hopkins’ day was the 39-yard attempt he made with 16 seconds left in regulation. The Redskins had just mounted a solid drive to get into field goal range for the potential game-winning attempt, and he hit it clean and true. He didn’t seem nervous at all and was cool, calm, and collected as ever at the position.

The ‘Skins never had to worry about leaving points on the field when Hopkins kicked on Sunday. And that’s a great feeling.
