3. Redskins’ offensive line must do a better job protecting Dwayne Haskins

Last week against the Jets, Dwayne Haskins was hit nine times and sacked six times as he took a beating against a ferocious pass rush. In a now-viral video, Haskins was seen asking his lineman what he could do to help them. While some of that was because former Redskins’ defensive coordinator Gregg Williams was bringing the blitz, the unit as a whole did not play well enough to protect Haskins adequately.

The Detroit Lions don’t have the talent that the Jets do along the defensive line, but they still have some players who can make Haskins uncomfortable in the pocket. Brandon Scherff and Chase Roullier haven’t played well at times. They must play better and be ready to handle the interior pressure. The unit as a whole must do a better job of handling the blitz this weekend.

If the offensive line can play a better game than last week and keep Haskins clean (or at least cleaner than last week), the Redskins stand a good chance at victory Sunday.
