Redskins youth shines through in Week 11 studs and duds

Dud No. 1 – Redskins HC Bill Callahan
The Washington Redskins shouldn’t spend time considering Bill Callahan as their full-time head coach in the offseason. Yes, Callahan has experience that made him an attractive choice as the interim coach, but it’s been made clear over his five-game stretch as coach that he isn’t an optimal fit.
Callahan had two weeks to prepare the Redskins for the 2-7 New York Jets. Two weeks to prepare an efficient game plan, one which aligned with the Jets’ weaknesses and optimized the Redskins strengths. Two weeks to train his players and use his anti-Jay Gruden practice methods.
Two weeks. And Callahan’s performance on Sunday brought nothing to show for it. Players looked sloppy and disinterested. The offensive game plan was very inefficient, up until it was too late for a comeback. At least Callahan was honest with the media, stating that he didn’t think the Redskins “were close” after the game.
That said, coaches don’t get points for honesty, let alone delayed honesty. Coaches get points for production, and in all facets, Callahan failed on Sunday.
