Ensure that Dwayne Haskins avoids turnovers

The Redskins were able to stay close with the Bills for most of their Week 9 game despite only scoring field goals. Until the Bills’ final scoring drive, the Redskins were within single digits of the team.

One of the main reasons for this? Dwayne Haskins didn’t turn the ball over.

In Haskins’ first 22 pass attempts, he threw four interceptions and generally struggled with ball security. But against the Bills, Haskins did a good job of mostly avoiding mistakes. He had issues holding onto the ball too long, but he didn’t make any really risky passes. That was a double-edged sword, as it meant there weren’t a lot of chances taken downfield, but it still panned out well for the Redskins.

With two weeks between games, Haskins should be better off. And better yet, he’s playing against a weaker defense that he has had extra time to prepare for. The Jets have a porous secondary, so he should be able to operate effectively while avoiding interceptions.

For Haskins, his main goal should be avoiding turnovers. As for Bill Callahan and Kevin O’Connell, their goal has to be to design a gameplan that takes more chances while still ensuring that the team mostly avoids interceptions and fumbles. If they can do that, they should have a good chance to beat the Jets.
