Redskins full NFL first-round mock: Is Chase Young the one?
By Ian Cummings
The Denver Broncos traded away an elite route runner ahead of the trade deadline when they shipped Emmanuel Sanders off to the San Francisco 49ers. The move made their offensive cupboard considerably more bare, but it also grants them an opportunity to get younger and cheaper at the position.
Luckily for the Broncos and Rich Scangarello’s retooled offense, there’s a chance to replace one elite route runner with another in the 2020 NFL Draft. It’ll be imperative for the Broncos to surround Drew Lock with enough weapons once he’s on the field. Adding Jerry Jeudy goes a long way toward accomplishing that.
Jeudy is arguably the best wide receiver in an absolutely stacked draft class. Some people will be turned away by his size (6-foot-1, 192), but Jeudy’s game as a route runner is unforgivingly complete. He has the lateral agility and peak flexibility to render defenders shoeless, he has the balance to make incredible catches and miss tackles after the catch, and he has the nuance and processing skills to utilize his traits to maximum efficiency. Emmanuel who?
