No. 5 – LT Donald Penn

With the Washington Redskins situation with Trent Williams now in the center of the national spotlight, every snap taken by left tackle Donald Penn will be, deservedly or undeservedly, tied to the team’s neglect of Williams in recent months.

Recently, it was disclosed by Williams himself that the team had misdiagnosed a growth that was eventually revealed to be a cancer tumor. While Williams dealt with the matter, his relationship with the front office deteriorated, and Bruce Allen essentially ostracized the veteran, even going so far as to mount a last-minute bid to trade the stalwart blindside blocker.

Allen’s lack of foresight and empathy has left Williams with reservations about ever coming back to the Redskins organization, and has entrenched Penn as the team’s left tackle for what should be the rest of the 2019 season. And for better or worse, Penn’s play will now be under enhanced scrutiny.
