Jon Runyan. 7. player. 811. . Offensive Tackle. Wolverines

The Redskins tackle situation is interesting, to say the least.

Trent Williams would be the starter in normal circumstances, but he’s been holding out since August. If he comes back, it’ll only be to accrue a full season and spite Bruce Allen by keeping his guaranteed money. Donald Penn, meanwhile, has been serviceable at left tackle, and he could actually buy the Redskins another year of security at the position.

If that’s the case, then the Redskins won’t need to use won’t of their early picks on a tackle. Depending on who’s there, that might be the way to go. But since we used our early picks on cornerbacks in this mock. tackle had to wait. But in Round 7, Jon Runyan is a nice value get.

Runyan’s upside is somewhat limited at the next level, as he lacks the quantity of raw power at the point of attack that NFL linemen are supposed to have. That said, Runyan has good size at 6-foot-4, 304, and he’s fairly mobile for his size. If he can add power to his game while sitting behind Penn for a year, he could be a swing tackle, at the very least.
