Redskins Saturday Spotlight: Seven-round mock, building an elite defense
By Ian Cummings
I know I’m supposed to differentiate with these mock drafts, but C.J. Henderson is just too good of a pick to pass up in Round 3. He was available last time, and he was available this time, so in this mock, the Redskins double down at cornerback, and cement their starting rotation.
There’s a chance Henderson isn’t there at the top of the third round, but his fall is entirely possible. Henderson is a top-top-flight athlete (one “top” wasn’t enough), and he brings a moxie at a position which needs it. That said, he has prevalent issues with tackling, and that could be enough to send him slipping in a deep cornerback class.
Solid prospects have slipped before. In 2019, Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (coincidentally also from Florida), was widely regarded as the top safety prospect in the draft class, and he fell to the Saints in Round 4. It could happen to a talent like Henderson, and if it does, the Redskins have to seriously consider the value.
Imagine a cornerback trio consisting of Quinton Dunbar, Jeffrey Okudah, and C.J. Henderson. Opponents, pass at your own risk.
