1. The Reality Is, Jay Gruden was not the reason the Redskins were bad this year.

Gruden had his limitations and shortcomings as a coach. He was not adept at game management. He was not creative in making mid-game adjustments. He was not good at selecting defensive coaches. He was not focused enough on teaching and enforcing discipline. But he was not the reason the Redskins are bad this year. Nor was he the primary reason they didn’t succeed any of the past five years.

Gruden was working within the confines of a blatantly and willfully dysfunctional organizational structure set up without reference to industry norms or best practices. Anyone thinking Bill Callahan is going to make an appreciable difference in the on-field results for this team is delusional.

The Redskins may get a win this week… but don’t let that shiny object get you caught in the web of misdirection being spun by Bruce Allen and Dan Snyder about the state of the culture within the organization.
