Dud No. 2 – RB Adrian Peterson

Remember when people said the switch to Adrian Peterson at running back would matter? Turns out, it hasn’t.

The Redskins tried, at various times, in their limited time of possession, to get Adrian Peterson going and set up the run. Almost every time, Peterson was met behind, at, or shortly ahead of the line of scrimmage, and the Redskins would then be stuck with a second-and-long situation.

For the second week in a row, Peterson averaged less than three yards per carry. He logged 18 yards on seven attempts, and now, on the season, he has 40 carries for 108 yards, good for a measly average yards per carry of 2.7.

Peterson was considered inefficient last year, when he managed to break 1,000 yards en route to a resurgence campaign. This year, he’s taken that label to a whole new level. The run blocking isn’t helping Peterson out, but over the past two weeks, there have simply been holes that he’s missed, or failed to hit with the same vigor he once did.
