No. 2 – Redskins TE Jordan Reed

This isn’t necessarily a “Watch how he plays” type deal, because for the fourth week in a row, it’s looking like Jordan Reed might not suit up in burgundy and gold. This comes after Jay Gruden expressed optimism that Reed would be ready for Week 1. Now, four games later, Reed has yet to make an appearance.

It speaks to the unpredictability of a concussion, especially one suffered after several others. For a time, there was legitimate concern surrounding the status of Reed’s career, and now, after another week in which Reed hasn’t even reached the practice field, those concerns shouldn’t fade yet.

It’s worth noting that Jay Gruden said he expects Reed to return at some point, per Pro Football Talk’s Rory Parks. Gruden didn’t give a specific time table, but he said that he’s excited to get Reed back once Reed “has a great state of mind”.

For now, the Redskins offense has received a supplement of dynamic talent in the form of Terry McLaurin, but every addition helps, and without Jordan Reed, there’s an element missing over the middle. Regardless of whether he plays or not, the Reed situation is worth monitoring.
