No. 4 – Redskins LG Ereck Flowers

Ereck Flowers has been one of the pleasant surprises of an otherwise unpleasant 2019 season. In the offseason, reports of Flowers’ struggles caused many to doubt Bill Callahan’s ability as an offensive line coach, but during the season, with more reps at guard under his belt, Flowers has performed admirably.

Currently, Flowers is sporting a PFF grade of 65.1, on a 0 to 100-point scale. He has two penalties against him, but he hasn’t allowed any sacks in pass protection, and on those pass blocking reps, he’s been active, physical, and alert, forming a competent tandem with Donald Penn on the left side.

Week 4 represents a unique opportunity for Flowers; a chance to prove himself as a guard, against a team and a fan base that only remembers him as a bust at offensive tackle. He’ll have a tough assignment, going up against the likes of Dexter Lawrence, Dalvin Tomlinson, and B.J. Hill on the defensive interior, but if his play thus far is any indication, he’ll be up for the challenge.
