4. Reality Is, penalties and mistakes are killing this team.

Some were quick to point out that the Cowboys were penalized more than the Redskins on Sunday. And while that’s technically true, anyone who watched the game knows that the Redskins had more significant penalties. They have a knack, so far this season, for getting a penalty on a key play, in a key situation. See the third-and-goal holding on Moreland. Or the holding call on Scherff that negated a big first-down run. They extended drives with defensive penalties and killed drives with offensive penalties.

On top of the penalties, they have made crucial mistakes. The blown coverages (four in two games) on deep balls, the missed downfield opportunities to Richardson and McLaurin, the drops by Richardson and Davis, key missed blocks by Moses and Davis in the running game, etc. The list is really long for only having two games to work with.

This tweet is indicative of how many mistakes the Redskins are making this year.

And I’d add one more thing to Chad’s comments…Moses getting beat so badly is what forces Keenum’s eyes short. The result…drive ends, rather than touchdown.
