Score Prediction

This should be the easiest of the Redskins first three 2019 matchups, but that isn’t necessarily saying much. The Eagles and the Cowboys are both complete teams, and even while the Bears offense hasn’t been as good as they’d hoped, the defense is still menacing, and the coaching staff in Chicago has a better feel for the game than those in Washington.

For the Redskins, going up against a limping Bears offense should give a coveted chance to the defense, to step back up and amount to the expectations placed on them before the season. But even then, it will be tough to make a lasting impact across from Chicago’s offensive line. They’ll have to force Mitchell Trubisky to make mistakes. And if Jay Gruden lets Chicago get ahead early, they’ll take advantage of a spotty Redskins run defense.

It should be a relatively close game, but I see the Bears taking this one on the road. The Bears have the edge on defense and on the coaching staff, and while their offense has produced a subpar output overall thus far, the Redskins offense doesn’t have an insurmountable edge, if they even have an edge at all. This game will be marred by inconsistency on offense and splash plays on defense, and by the end, the Redskins will still be searching for their first win.

Final Score: Bears 19, Redskins 15
