Overall

The overall point is that Williams is still a tradeable commodity. There are a handful of teams that make sense, but of the group, two are standing out.

Injuries are the biggest game-changer at the NFL level. And with the 49ers and Patriots both undefeated and potentially without the use of their respective left tackles, it would make sense for them to target some help. Williams could be had for the right price, so it wouldn’t be a surprise to see either try to deal for him.

As for the other teams listed, they make less sense for various reasons. Some have salary cap issues. Others have minimal resources needed to make a trade. They still will have an interest, but if those teams haven’t bit yet or made a big-time offer, the ‘Skins are less likely to be making a deal with them. But of that group, the Browns would seemingly be the most willing to trade and potentially could be the best fit.

For now, we’ll keep an eye on New England and San Francisco. The injuries to their top tackles make them interesting players should the team decide to liquify one of their most easily moveable assets.

Of course, the Redskins haven’t been willing to move Williams to date, so this all could be moot. But still, with the team’s season off to a bad start, they could consider moving on and trying to find his successor in the upcoming draft.
