No. 4 – Jimmy Moreland doesn’t make any plays on the ball

Players don’t always deliver on the hype, so for every good prediction you make, you have to have a bad one. Since this is bold predictions, however, we can bend the rules a bit. Say, 0.25 bad predictions for every good prediction.

This bad prediction isn’t even super bad; it’s more emblematic of the traditional rookie. Rookies always need time to become acclimated with the size and speed of the traditional NFL player, and for a slightly undersized cornerback like Jimmy Moreland, going up against a deep Browns receiving core in Week 1 of preseason might be an overwhelming task.

All offseason, reports have given Moreland icon status in Redskins training camp. He might as well have had a gravitational pull, for the football seemed to find him time and time again. But against the Browns, in his first true NFL test, those mysterious super powers will leave him.

That’s not to say that Moreland won’t find his groove again, once he adjusts. But the training camp hype doesn’t always translate. Danny Johnson was a similarly active defensive back in training camp last year, and he failed to make much of an impact on the field on game days. Moreland could still be a steal, but even the best draft picks don’t have to start out clean.
