Score prediction

Preseason games are very tough to predict, and that is especially true of the first one. But even if the results don’t matter, the Redskins should have a chance to emerge victoriously.

The ‘Skins have the advantage on offense because of their quarterback battle. Their three potential starters will soak up all the reps while the Browns focus on who their backup will be. And given the depth the Redskins have at running back, they could have a more-than-solid and multi-faceted attack.

On defense, it’s a bit shakier solely because of the amount of young talent being forced into bigger roles. And, of course, it’s tough to know exactly how they will play in the first contest. But Cleveland’s offense isn’t too scary, unless Mayfield plays more than a drive or two, so the Redskins should be in okay shape on this side of the ball.

Gruden has far more experience than Kitchens as a head coach, so that’s another checkmark for the Redskins.

While I don’t expect this to be a high-scoring game, all the quarterbacks will be rusty in live-game action, I do think the Redskins should have a chance to emerge victoriously. The result doesn’t matter though, and what fans will really be looking for is progression on the field from their new talent.
