Redskins: Five takeaways from the first depth chart release

No. 2 – Redskins mentally prepared to live without Trent Williams
Judging by their depth chart release, the Redskins are mentally prepared, or at least preparing, to spend some time without their best offensive player.
On the depth chart, and in the Redskins.com article linked with the depth chart, there is not a mention of offensive tackle Trent Williams. Starting in his place at left tackle currently is second-year player Geron Christian, and on the second team at left tackle is Donald Penn.
Physically, the Redskins will never quite be prepared to play without Williams. Penn, with his experience and savvy, gives them the best chance to brave the storm, but no one on the roster would come close to being effective.
That said, Williams is clearly not available to them right now, as they’ve spared him no inclusion with the team. For now, it seems like the holdout is far from over.
