Right tackles don’t always get a lot of love. But Jon Jansen was a solid one for the Redskins. And that’s part of why he earned this nickname.

The rock.

For the first five seasons of his Redskins career after being a second-round pick by the team. He didn’t miss a game until he suffered an Achilles tear in 2004. In all but two of his 10 seasons with the ‘Skins, Jansen started at least 14 games and was, as his nickname stated, rock-solid.

Jansen was beloved by his teammates as well. The team named him the “unsung hero” after his efforts in the 2002 season. He also earned a second-team All-Pro nod in 2005, so he did earn some respect on a league-wide basis as one of the best right tackles in the game.

Jansen ended up being a solid ambassador for the Redskins in his efforts with the media and his ability to connect to his teammates. He was an understatedly solid player for the ‘Skins and did enough to make this list as the No. 5 ranked player overall.
