2019 outlook for Alexander

Alexander is shaping up to be the wild card of the cornerback room. He has the potential to be a starter at the NFL level. But, he has to live up to it first.

The Redskins have a lot of depth and potential contributors at the cornerback position. Among them, Alexander has a unique skill set that could certainly help the team. The only question about him is, will he be ready to contribute this year?

Alexander’s training camp truly will make or break his chances of qualifying for the roster. The Redskins will have to think long and hard about whether or not they want to keep him around. If they waive him, he would be a logical practice squad candidate. But, at the same time, there wouldn’t be any guarantee that he would make it to the practice squad. Another cornerback-needy team could scoop him up if they like his potential.

It will be interesting to see what ultimately happens with Alexander. But for the time being, he is definitely one of the players that needs to prove himself and make the leap heading into his second season. And his best chance to do that will be during training camp.
