No. 16 – Seattle Seahawks

If Russell Wilson wasn’t on the Seahawks, they’d be in the mid-twenties. At least.

Not enough can be said about Wilson and his ability to drag the Seahawks to the playoffs, year after year. Gone are the days of the Legion of Boom. Back then, Wilson at least had an elite defense to couple with his play. Now, that’s gone too. Now, he’s on his own.

The best thing the Seahawks could have done in the 2019 offseason, to help Wilson, would have been to move on from Brian Schottenheimer. The team’s much-maligned offensive coordinator threw away a winnable playoff game against the Cowboys by putting identity over efficiency, and in 2019, it’s hard to expect any substantial changes.

If there’s any consolation, however, there’s this: The Seahawks somehow managed to add D.K. Metcalf in Round 2 of the 2019 NFL Draft, and he should quickly be a reliable target for Wilson in the passing game. With Schottenheimer at the helm, the team’s offensive attack may be fundamentally hindered, but with Wilson playing quarterback, the Seahawks are always guaranteed a fighting chance.
