Linebacker. Cardinals. Haason Reddick. 3. player. 32.

The Redskins may want to look for an athletic linebacker who could have the potential to develop into an excellent coverage linebacker. Haason Reddick would certainly fit the bill.

In his two years with the Cardinals, Reddick has yet to live up to expectations. The former first-round pick posted 80 tackles and four sacks last year, but he was inconsistent in all facets of the game and while he has elite athletic ability, the Cardinals could be getting frustrated with him.

There is one major question that would surround any potential Reddick deal. Would the Cardinals actually trade him? Last season, there were some rumblings that the team may try to move on from him. However, that was under a different coaching staff (Steve Wilks and company) and in a different scheme. It’s possible that Vance Joseph sees Reddick as an important part of the Cardinals’ defense moving forward and may like his upside enough to keep him.

Also, it is worth noting that after barely playing defense in the first month of last season, Reddick played almost all of the defensive snaps from the fifth game onward. Perhaps he flashed enough in that time to earn a chance at starting for another season. He certainly has the athletic traits needed to be a playmaking linebacker at the next level.

Though Reddick doesn’t seem likely to be moved, that shouldn’t stop the Redskins from inquiring about his availability. The Cardinals did sign Jordan Hicks in the offseason, so perhaps if another one of their linebackers plays well, they could attempt to move Reddick. But given the lack of depth the Cardinals have at the position and the capital they spent on Reddick (13th overall pick), they may have to keep him at least one more year.
